Reaching our goal of $20,000 will help us continue to provide support to our Adult Education students. Because of COVID-19, our program has shifted to virtual learning and our students need support outside, as well as inside, the classroom.
Access to adult education improves the well-being of the entire family. We offer a supportive, goal-directed environment where Amani residents can reach their educational goals with individualized learning plans.
We focus in three areas:
Adult Basic Education: Students receive one-on-one academic support from tutors in reading, writing, math, computer literacy and social studies.
Arts & Culture: This includes educational opportunities for the enrichment of the body, mind and spirit through poetry, art, music, home care and healthy living. Field trips are also offered.
GED/HSED Preparation Classes: Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) staff partner with Dominican Center tutors to provide adult classes on basic academic skills necessary for a referral to the General Education Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) programs at the Social Development Commission (SDC).
The Dominican Center is a tax-exempt public charity (federal tax ID #41-1685734). All contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your generous financial donation.
